My fellow bloggers and my dear readers,
The days grow shorter, and perhaps to shine cheer on us all, the lights and the sparkle of the season are beginning to creep in. That is not always a good thing, as it might remind us of the crazy harried days we may be facing. Are you tempted to put your blog ON HOLD? Are you tempted to let a few of your favorite blogs pass by unread? Me too.
But I decided to put up a few photos of my adopted city, Savannah, which is in many places immune to holiday commercialism. Many, but not all. Here are a few calm places that I saw while walking around waiting for my daughter to finish the half marathon last week (Savannah’s Rock N Roll Marathon). 
No crazy holiday sparkle in this window yet. And I am seriously thinking of buying that beautiful Italian ceramic vase.
As I said, not everyone is immune to the sparkle, but I found this calm and relaxing. The decorations did not cue the craziness and raise my blood pressure!
This simple and welcoming front door arrangement was classic. We are still green here in Savannah, so a small dose of Autumn is perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday ahead.
We are not hot like Florida, but our temperate climate gives us a lush and green feel even in mid November. No snow and Santa yet, please!
I read that Savannah has opened a tour office in London, to encourage our friends in England to visit. If you can get to New York, then a swift flight via Jet Blue is easy and relatively inexpensive. Our airport is quite nice and never crowded. I digress…
Forsyth park is newly planted with happy pansies. Such a welcome sight. No poinsettia yet, please!
There, I managed to write a blog, and I will now try to catch up with my favorite bloggers – as long as you’re not talking about poinsettias and Santa! Not yet!

Wavelength connections abound. I too have been avoiding seasonally precocious shops and calendar hopping decor. Unlike you however, I have not managed to post (and barely, to read or comment!). Onwards into the season – hope you and yours have a lovely feast when the day arrives.

I agree, lets keep Christmas for what it really is. I was shopping for a friends birthday card the other day, could I find one, it was all Christmas cards, don’t they realise that people still have birthdays at this time of year?! Your shops look really beautiful, very tasteful!

I understand that! Husband’s birthday is Christmas Eve – it can be hard to find good wrapping paper for his gift as well!

I’ve sworn off Christmas until after T-day, but I confess, it’s challenging. Especially with all the temptations online and in stores. Love the historic look to the house fronts you’ve shared. Your city is known for that!

On my own blog, I am still enjoying fall, but a bike ride around the city today revealed that Christmas is coming.

I have to admit that we’re rather early to get the tree out and decorated, but it *does* look good plus we don’t have Thanks Giving to look forward to. We keep the outdoor lights off until 1st Dec though and that’s in agreement with the rest of the street otherwise things could get earlier and earlier (being the first one to turn on the lights).

A few months ago before COVID I stayed at the Foley Inn. I got there when it was getting dark and I was by myself so I didn’t get a chance to go to Forsythe Park. The following day I did spend some time at Bonaventure Cemetery.

We’ve had the most glorious Spring. But I am waking to hot and humid today. You always know the forecast when you pull the curtains and the windows are fogged up! Residents were complaining that they aren’t keeping up Bonaventure. Azalea season is gorgeous though. Getting out near the marshes, Wormsloe…oh there is so much to take in!
