We embarked on a sunset cruise around Skidaway and Wilmington Islands last night.
Coastal Georgia is perhaps the richest marshland in the United States. All that oxygen and nutrient richness made me feel healthier just cruising around. We saw dolphins flipping hellos and manatees diving in the air! We saw Paula Deen’s house – “Hey Paula!” My take on Paula? My impression is that she has a really big heart and she knows her way around the kitchen. She made some mistakes and made her confession. Now get back to the kitchen, Paula, and make it yummy but make it healthier. We haven’t tried her restaurant , The Lady and her Sons. But she helped to bring tourists to Savannah because of her cooking, and that has been a good thing for this city. The sense is that Hugh Acheson will do the same. Can’t wait to visit his just opened restaurant in Savannah, The Florence.
We are reserved with 8 friends for next week; I’ll let you know how that goes! But back to the water –
This was about as perfect a night as you get and my love of Savannah skies deepened as the colors saturated and stamped the evening a “10!”
I am saving the best photo of the night – I can’t give you everything, dear readers! But rest assured that if you come to this part of the coast, you will be amazed at the beauty from out on the water.
Boys were fishing as we approached the dock at dusk. Reminding us of the simple pleasures that continue from generation to generation….
I’ve always wanted to visit the South, particularly Savannah. Thank you for sharing.

Jayne, Savannah is one of my favorite towns! We lived in Hilton Head for five years and visited your town quite often. We have eaten at Paula’s restaurant but have never taken a cruise….maybe next trip.

Lovely photos of the water, it’s wonderful to think of manatees there, I’ve never seen one. I grew up in Houston and we would drive to South Carolina to visit my grandparents, but I think by Georgia we would be up to Atlanta so I’m not sure we ever saw the coast there. I’m glad things are going well there.

I think I would love Savannah. The richest marshlands? That means an abundance of wildlife. I know I would love it there. Nice views and tour.

Good morning! I just saw your comment. So, does this mean I can put you on the list? Just have FUN. It is a time to get ultra creative, but share from YOUR HEART. The fun is leaving it up for an entire week and then visiting the others to make fun connections. Keep working on it, and I’m putting your name on my list with your link right now. THANKS! Anita

I am enjoying living vicariously through you and remembering some of the same adventures when we visited my Parents. I think you’re right about the beautiful skies of the coast and over the marsh. I am sure you still are working hard to make your new home yours but, it is so exciting to hear about your explorations!
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jayne, it looks as though you’re really getting settled in and very much enjoying your new home/location/environment, that’s great to learn. Seeing the dolphins waving at you must have been very special.
