Thanksgiving Grace

We give thanks

‘For each new morning with its light,

For rest and shelter of the night,

For health and food

For love and friends,

For everything thy goodness sends.’

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Those gathered around the table were small in number, but a happy group we were.  My napkins made for the Holiday Boutique (local charities benefitting) sold well enough, but I did buy back a set for myself and they added some homespun  charm inside the ancestral silver napkin rings.

The tour de force was Mother’s pecan pie!

I like the table robust in color, and though my best dinnerware doesn’t lend itself to the colors of Autumn, the flowers should.

The chandelier fairies are colorful too.

Clementine’s actual birthday was today, and we did not forget her

Four years old today!

The moment the turkey has been put away, we barely wait a moment and the Christmas lights go up outside.  Today was a sunny and mild day – perfect for festooning the boxwood with twinkling lights.  I know busy people hire out to have this done, but for us it is a family affair.  The dogs run around and enjoy the lively conversation, and by the end of the day, all are exhausted and so very thankful!  Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Chandelier fairies!!!! How adorable! I had almost forgotten that now we have to start on the Christmas decorations! Some years I’m ready to put them up right after Christmas, but this year I think they may make a late arrival!
