A wedding week-end for dear friend’s daughter is here! Wishing for the glorious Summer weather to continue for her outdoor reception! Everything, even in my humble garden is abloom after a string of gorgeous sunny days.Hydrangea seem a natural choice for wedding arrangements in July. The first thing that strikes me at a wedding are the flowers! Wouldn’t lilies be lovely?
I fell for this lily described in Brent & Beck’s catalog as one with strong stems and an upright stance. They also said it has fragrance….not really. That is a must for me, so I will not be adding more.
Agapanthus could be used for strong upright lines in a wedding centerpiece. Mine has just started to open. Like fireworks over the pond! A dozen pots is probably too many, but even after giving away divisions, I seem to have more than I need.
I would like to sit in my garden this week-end, though the seat never holds me long.
There are roses to deadhead, day lilies too, and they with all the other chores draw you away from a peaceful repose. But this week-end, it is a wedding that will keep me from the chores…but just for a moment. Probably long enough for this bird to make a nest in one of the pots or baskets. She has been eyeing the many possibilities all week! Isnt it too late for a third brood?
Birds and bees and weddings – all abuzz.
Have a great week-end, hope all is buzzing in your back yard!
I hope you enjoy the wedding – if it was being held in the UK it would be sure to be a wet one.
