Nantucket Bound

I am bound for Nantucket at the end of the week, so I leave my blog behind.  I fear I will come back to empty raised beds – yes, the beast is on the prowl nightly now.  It attacks the peas, the beans, lettuce, tomatoes.  Now here is a clue to its voracious appetite – it tried the vanilla marigolds!  What can I do?  I spray with Deer Stopper and hope  that there is something left for me to tend, when I return….The beast seems to feast low to the ground, so it won’t get the vines.  By the way, who said, “Plant it and they will come” ?   Hummingbirds, please come, but beast, go away!!

Oh no! Your beautiful site! Could a fence be in its future? You’re so fortunate to have escaped the marauders in the past. We just finished a very rudimentary fence against the deer, but I don’t think it would repel a determined rabbit or woodchuck.

As for Nantucket, well, this envious non-traveler will be missing your sage garden advice while you’re gone. Have a great time — will be expecting pictures when you return.
