Dahlia Destruction

Inspection at dawn revealed the noctural gnawing by some gluttonous critter devoted to dahlias’ delights!  I am not happy. The deer spray and the Milorganite doesn’t stop the appetite of this (these?) beast.  So we’ll try another method.  Barriers!

Will this stop them?  Time will tell.  In the mean time, I try to enjoy the rest of the garden that has not been besieged….yet!

The rugosa roses on the pond are blooming.  Peonies, clematis, iris, nepeta are displaying their full beauty!

Grandfather's Iris

My companion in the garden thinks today will be just fine, now that half of the dahlias are in their “cages”, tomatoes have been fertilized with Dr. Earth, and we can now settle into a fine Spring day!
