Savannah was showing off her best (The 76th Annual Savannah Tour of Homes & Gardens) last week. We were excited on a sunny warm day to arrive and pick up our tickets:
Inveterate gardeners such as myself would hope to see more gardens and less house, but Savannah did not disappoint in any way. Spending the day with good friends who live in Hilton Head and enjoying the sights of Savannah, along with good food (The Pink House!) was divine.
Our tickets allowed us to tour 7 sights in the Southeast Quadrant – a landmark district. We did not have enough time in our allotted 3 hours from 2 to 5 p.m. to see it all, but I didn’t need more time to find a house I want to live in! And if I can’t have that, there is a close second. I won’t go public with my first pick, but may I say East Gaston Street is a treat!
By the way, you need legs on these tours – staircases, etc.
Because photography was not allowed inside, I have nothing to share visually of the interiors. But the feast for the eyes was immense. Everything from very modern art to the most personal portrait of the owners’ spaniel. You know which I loved best. Antiques were lovingly displayed and the glories of a past architecture were carefully restored. I love Savannah!
Great pictures! More…more!!!
